The coastal plains and plateaus: The coastal region to the north has a Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild wet winters rainfall varies from 800 mm in the north (Gharb plain) to less than 200 mm in the Sous valley in the south. This includes 2,934 km of costs on the Atlantic Ocean on the West, and 512 km of coast on the Mediterranean sea to the North. The country has a total area of nearly 711,000 km 2. Morocco is located on the North-West edge of the African continent, between latitudes 21°N and 36°N and longitudes 1°W and 17°W.
